About Amanda

As a dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience, I have been committed to helping students with dyslexia and other learning differences thrive academically, emotionally, and personally. I have taught special education for 17 years and hold a Master of Education from the University of Washington Tacoma. My passion for teaching students with reading challenges has led me to bring my expertise to one-on-one online tutoring.

I believe in the power of individualized instruction, recognizing that each student has unique strengths, learning styles, and potential. My tutoring approach follows the Science of Reading, which emphasizes that reading is a complex process involving multiple cognitive skills that need explicit, systematic instruction. I use a multisensory method—see it, hear it, feel it, do it—to help students with dyslexia master reading and language skills.

Beyond skill-building, I focus on creating a supportive and motivating learning environment. I work to identify learning gaps, build confidence, and make reading an enjoyable and empowering experience. My goal is to help students not only succeed academically but also develop pride in their efforts and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
